Plenty of mullet in the surf this AM. The bluefish were tearing up our bait whether it was live finger mullet or cut pieces. It seems we hooked more with the cut pieces. The bluefish pass by so fast, when the grab a large bait like a live finger mullet, it can rip off of the hook. You can end up with a lot of good hard strikes, but not much to show for it, but a bunch of reeling practice. The smaller pieces of mullet (I usually cut finger mullet in half) make it more likely for the fish to contact the hook. Anyway, the blues were going nuts out there today and we had a blast. The smallest bluefish in the picture above is at least 12\" to the fork

Not much action today, until a school of Bonnet Head sharks swam by. This one put up a good fight. Of course I couldn\'t see the school of bonnetheads swinmming by, but I did see at least two other adult bonnetheads, swimming along side the shark I had hooked. They along side until the water got too shallow then they turned back out and disapeared.

I only fished for about an hour and a half today. It was pretty exciting though. There were some bigger mullet running in the surf, so I kept some to throw on the grill. Also caught a bluefish.

I caught a bunch of finger mullet in the cast net, for bait. Lots of hard bites this AM. I caught one 3.5ft bonnethead sharkand several smaller bonnetheads. Also a couple of small atlantic sharpnose sharks. You cans see a small sharpnose, about to be released, along side the bonnethead in the picture above.
