Jacksonville Beach - I got down to the beach about 7:30 AM which was a few minutes before high tide. The tide didn't come in as far it typically does this time of year, but there was plenty of deep water within casting distance. I casted out half a finger mullet and let it soak for about half an hour without a single bite, so I cahgned to shrimp flavored Fish Bites. I started getting bites immediately and pulled in a couple of small croakers. I continued to pull in small spot and croakers, for the next couple of hours. A few of the croakers were decent sized so I threw them in the cooler for lunch. Around 10:30am I felt a hard hit and hooked what felt like a much bigger fish. It turned out to be a weakfish about 18 inches long. I knew it was some kind of trout, but in the past I had only caught spotted sea trout, so I had to look it up to identify it. The weakfish, despite it's name, put up a good fight. I took home 4 croakers and the weakfish, whcih we ate for a late lunch. I had a blast as usual. If you are interested in publish your fishing reports, please shoot me a quick email and I will send you instructions. Tight Lines!!

Jacksonville Beach - This week, Wes and I were joined by a new fishing buddy, also named Jason, who is fairly new to the area. We all got down to the beach at 7:30am. The tide was coming in and high tide was expected at about 10:30. When we first got set up, the waves were coming in over the sandbar, but the water was still a bit shallow in the trough. There was also a medium strength current pulling our baits to the south. None the less, we started getting bites immediately. We would cast out, the bait would drift south into the trough, and then the bluefish would start banging on it. Even though it was his first time, Jason ended up catching the most fish. We all hooked a bunch and had a cooler full by about 10:45. It was a beautiful day and we had a blast as usual.

Jacksonville Beach - Wes an I got down to the beach about 7:30 AM. It was a nice morning, warm but overcast. It was mid-tide, but the water was deep enough to fish, even over the sandbar, whcih is where most of our casts were landing. The bluefish started biting immediately. We started the day, a little light on tackle. We only had one leader each, and on a good day, we might go through three or four. The bluefish have sharp teeth and fight like mad, so we lose a little tackle when the blues are very active. Anyway, Wes hooked a big bluefish, but couldn't get him reeled in.

Jacksonville Beach - My neighbor Emily got down to the beach around 7:30 AM. It was mi-tide with high-tide expected around 10:30 AM. There was a wind from the East, which was a little annoying for casting, but it was also pushing some deeper water over the sand bar. Sometimes at mid-tide, the water is to shallow over the sand bar to fish., but today the wind was helping. It was about 20 minutes before I got the first bite, and it felt like a bluefish. It was, and we kept catching them all morning. There was so many finger mullet in the surf that they were banging into our ankles while we were fishing. I threw the cast net once and we had more than enough bait for the whole day. It was a beautiful day, and we had a blast as usual. We shared smoked bluefish with the neighbors in the evening.

Jacksonville Beach - I got down tho the beach around 7:30 AM. It was high tide and no one else was fishing within sight. I tossed out a frozen mullet and started to get bites within ten minutes, so I suspected it would be a good day. The water temperature is back down into the mid seventies, so the bluefish are back. I caught one bluefish after another and even caught two at once on my double-drop rig. By 9am I was out of bait and had 8 bluefish in the cooler and had thrown back 4 blues that were too small. I couldnt find any mullet in the shallow water and I didn't really want to get soaked, so I decided to call it a day. The Air Show was going to start soon and the water was getting closed to the public at 10am. So I went home with 8 bluefish pictured above. It was a beautiful day and I had a blast as usual.

Jacksonville Beach - I got down to the beach about 7am. The tide was way out and low tide was expected about 10am. There was very little surf and light wind. Conditions were good for casting and visibilty into the water. I started fishing with shrimp flavored Fish Bites, on which I caught a few small Croakers, which I tossed back. My neighbor Scott was fishing a little south of me (he probably got to the beach at daylight). I walked down for a chat and he commented that he was seeing some schools of finger mullet passing through. I got back to my pole and focused on the water within my net casting range. After a while a saw some small ripples parting around where my line entered the water. I ran out into the hip deep water and threw my 6ft cast net. I caught the tail end of small school of finger sized mullet. I had about 20 mullet in the net. I could see that Scott snagged a few as well. I hooked up a mullet, tossed it out, set my rod in the spike, and got my net ready. I saw several more schools of ~ 50 to 100 mullet come by and netted what I could. I didn't get any bites on my line with the mullet. I did get plenty of bait, which I took home and froze in quart bags for later use. Although I didn't catch any fish, it was still exciting to see the mullet coming back through. The mullet run should ramp up for a few more weeks, wiht the schools getting much larger and more frequent. The predators will come inshore for the mullet soon and the real fun will begin. I can almost taste the redfish already!! I had a blast as usual and plan to be back out on the beach Saturday morning.

Jacksonville Beach - Wes and I headed down to the beach at 7:30am, along with some of the neighborhood kids. We still weren't getting any action on finger mullet. Everyone was fishing with 'Fish Bites' and we hauled in croakers and spot as fast we could reel them in. We had fun and did manage to catch a few whiting for the table. It was a beautiful day and everyone had a blast. My neighbor Ashton is shown in the picture above with a nice whiting.

Jacksonville Beach - I headed down to the beach at 7:30am with Wes and some neighborhood kids. Wes started out using finger mullet for bait, the kids and I were using shrimp flavored 'Fish Bites'. We immediately started getting bites on the Fish Bites. The kids were catching small croakers, just about as fast as they could reel them in. Wes was getting no action on the finger mullet, so he switched to Fish Bites after about an hour. We continued to catch small croakers and Spot for the rest of the morning. My neigbor Parker , shown in the picture above, was realling in the Spots two at a time. We had a lot of fun catching the croakers and Spots all morning. We kept a few of the larger Spot for the frying pan and threw the rest back. It was low tide, close to noon, and the water was out past the first sand bar. This leaves a good trough bewtween the first and second sandbar. I watched a 4.5 ft shark chasing spot, right near the bank. I could have caught him with my cast net. It was either a blacktip or bull shark. I watched him swimming around near the shore for several minutes and some people playing the surf nearby called their kids out of the water. I got my cast net ready when he was heading back my way, but he disappeared before I had a chance to throw it. We had a blast as usuall!!
